Foscarini
Big Bang Collection

Design by Enrico Franzolini

The Foscarini collection Big Bang including suspensions, ceiling lamps and wall lamps offers an impressing aesthetics of crossing metacrylate plates of different sizes, imitating the dynamic of an explosion. The crossing plates are seemingly randomly arranged. They follow a well-thought-out concept that results in a modern and fancy chandelier with sculptural character.

The extraordinary design, named after the big bang, was conceived by Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jiménez in 2005, and is available as Big Bang Soffitto, Big Bang Parete or as Big Bang Sospensione. While these halogen versions have screwable bases, the Big Bang LED suspension is equipped with energy-saving LEDs and is available in three sizes.

The light body consists of a coated aluminium plate and several plates of translucent methacrylate of various shapes. The plates can be pushed in each others custom-fit through the internal indents. The methacrylate plates are lacquered in pure white or domineering red, and guide the light of the centrally located lamp in all the directions. Big Bang emits a strong, direct light that is most possibly reflected thanks to the plates' arrangement, yet does not glare. The result is a refined play of light and shadows that looks different depending on the perspective from each it is viewed.

The Big Bang suspension, when installed as a domineering element over dining tables or counters in the middle of the room, forms an unparalleled decorative highlight with a fantastic lighting effect. The Big Bang Soffitto ceiling lamp and the Big Bang Parete come into full effect in exclusive office spaces or corridors. The versions L and XL are especially spectacular and form a pleasant lighting object for large and high rooms.
