About the Collection FontanaArte Equatore
The FontanaArte Equatore light fixture collection comprises suspensions, table lamps and floor lamps of diverse sizes which are first-rate design objects with an innovative treatment of the light source.
The light fixtures Equatore by FontanaArte, designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, are a very successful new interpretation of classical light fixtures with glass shades from the "Belle Epoque" - a slender, simple metallic frame and a glass shade form their basis. Their shape seems pragmatic, yet is made especially valuable by the refined surface treatment. The lights' highlight lies in the light source and in the achieved lighting effect.
The light source is traditionally expected inside the glass shade. Yet, the inside is empty, the LEDs being two lighting plates behind a metallic strip of a few centimetres inside the glass shade. This metallic strip forms an equatorial line and is visible from outside. Equatore's lighting effect is double. A permanently installed LED light plate spreads the light upwards in the glass hood, the other illuminates downwards.
The Equatore light can be ordered in a choice of surface lacquers. Its beauty is compatible with many furnishing styles and lends a luxurious note to a room, for example as a suspension over the dining table.
The magical lighting effect, the classical shape and the seemingly noble surfaces turn the Equatore light family into a first-rate design product. It was also the opinion of the 40 members of the international jury of the Archiproducts Design Awards who elected the Equatore by FontanaArte winner of the 2017 edition in the category lighting.
