About the Collection Flos Almendra
Flos Almendra belongs to the Flos spring collection 2022 and has been designed by the Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. The designed LED suspensions are the result of an ambitious project which is impressively sustainable and modern in terms of materials and designs.
Fundamentally, Flos Almendra (in english almond) is an illumination system based on modules, with shapes and colours inspired by the almond trees it is named after. The designer drew inspiration from the plants and trees growing in front of her house at the sea side. She has translated the shape of almond flowers with the aid of winged elements and bent or linear tubular structures into an exciting illuminating object characterized by a formal noblesse and equipped with hypermodern lighting technology.
For Patricia Urquiola, when designing the Almendra project, it was a special issue to conceive the lighting object in such a manner as to make possible to dismantle it at the end of its lifespan. This logic is obvious in the materials choice, in the surfaces and connecting principle of the single elements. The "twig" and the illuminating bodies are made of extruded aluminium which are recyclable. The light shells are made of a durable synthetic material, made of fall from industrial production. The polycarbonate is made of 100% sustainable ressources. Besides, Almendra's surfaces are always waterbased, the single elements are connected by snapping-in and the product is devoid of screws and glues. Flos Almendra which has been developed according to ISCC standards is entirely recyclable at the end of its lifespan, fulfilling today's sustainability demand.
The Almendra suspensions are available in various models: Almendra Linear and Almendra Organic. The different vertical and horizontal elements can be simply put together and the illuminating bodies can rotate by 60 degrees within the tubular structure to vary the illumination direction. In this way, Almendra can emit the integrated LEDs' light directly downwards and indirectly upwards. The light is always homogenous and diffusely distributed thanks to Edge Light technology, ensuring a high visual comfort.
The colours, in which the Flos Almendra suspensions are available, come from nature. The designer observed the almond trees on Ibiza, and their colours starting from green have been translated into the Almendra suspension: from the white colour of the almond flowers to the twigs' and shells' ochreyellow and to the skin colour, visible on a almond twig.
Almendra is a great designer object, resulting from a smart development process, which appeals with wonderful pastel shades, bent shapes, modularity, sustainability and last but not least its lighting technique.
Cleaning instructions by the manufacturer: The light fixture should be cleaned with soft cloths only.
It is possible to moist them with water and soap or with a neutral cleaning product. Do not use alcohol or solvents!
