Seppo Koho

Seppo Koho was born in 1967 in Finland and today lives and works in Helsinki. Not only did the Finn receive his Master in interior architecture and furniture design from the University of Helsinki, where he studied from 1987 to 1994, he also completed architecture studies at the Tampere University of Technology in 2010. He founded his own design office in 1995 and has since then designed many pieces of furniture and light fixtures, and developed architectural projects. Seppo Koho wishes to create minimalist products with a hint of poetry. Because he always produces his prototypes himself, Koho has acquired a large knowledge especially in wood crafting.

In 1995 he met Tuula Jusélius and soon after they founded the Secto Design brand, which specializes in wooden furniture and lights, and pioneered in the production of Scandinavian lights made of wood pressed into shape. Lights by Seppo Koho, like the Secto Octo pendant light, are displayed all over the world and are successful bestsellers and Scandinavian designer classics. Seppo Koho was awarded design prizes like the iF Product Design Award 2010 and the Olomuoto Award 2008. In 2015, he was even elected Furniture Designer of the Year 2015.
