Rodolfo Dordoni

Rodolfo Dordoni, the creative Italian genius, was born in 1954 in Milan, the design mecca where he still lives and works. He studied architecture at the Polyclinic University of Milan together with Capellini's current artistic director, Giulio Cappellini. He first worked as Cappellini' artistic director from 1979 to 1989. He later also became the head of Artemide's glass collection, FontanaArte's furniture collection and Foscarini's light collection. Dordoni has been the artistic director at Minotti since 1997 and at Roda since 2006. He especially left his own mark with timeless products in Minotti's portfolio which comprises seats characterized by clear lines.
In 2005, together with Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, he founded the Studio Dordoni Architetti which is now internationally famous for planning architecture, interior decoration for homes, commercial spaces and exhibitions. The designers' product range includes projects with manufacturers, such as Arteluce, Cassina, Flos, Kartell, Driade and Venini.

Clear shapes and high-quality materials characterize the designer's creations. In 1990, he developed the iconic Lumière table lamp which has a diffuser of blown glass and a distinctive tripod for the then-unknown manufacturer Foscarini. Lumière helped achieve Foscarini's international breakthrough and is still a bestselling light fixture. We also owe Foscarini Buds' beautiful rounded design to Rodolfo Dordoni. He designed the Ray lights which are a stunning mixture of light house and high-tension line for Flos. The Pochette he created for Flos is a light providing for indirect, lively light and striking shadows.
