Paola Navone

The designer Paola Navone, born in 1950, was raised in Turin, Italy, where she also studied architecture. She moved to Milan already during her sturies in order to work as a designer. From 1970 to 1980 she was a member of the Alchimia group with Alessandro Mendini, Andrew Branzi and Ettore Sottsass Jr.

In 2017, Paola Navone lives in Milan and Hong Kong. Her purpose is to learn as as many styles and techniques as possible by working in collaboration with a great many artists and designers. Paola Navone's creations are an international style mixture masterly uniting opposites. She is at home in many places in the world and expresses it in her works. Artisanal traditions of various cultures are reinterpretated and combined, for example by merging occidental aesthetics with Asian influences. The result are polyvalent products: couchs with long slip covers, side tables of tree truncs and vases and tables made of wire. Paola Navone's light are characterized by original ideas and high-quality materials.

Paola Navone has created various objects for famous companies like Slide, Alessi and Knoll. In the lighting field, Navone worked for FontanaArte and Martinelli Luce for which she designed fascinating lights with nostalgic features. The FontanaArte Pinecone lamps have the appearance of hot-air balloons and are created using traditional glass blowing techniques, while the Kiki Outdoor pendant light translates the charm of a romantic paper lanterns into a robust synthetic material.
