Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades opened his design office in London in 1994. His purpose has been to analyse and renew today's understanding of aesthetics and culture through connections with product design, furniture design and enviromment design. From his point of view between art and design, he intents to trigger dialogues and interactions. The objects he creates, even when meant for daily use, seem minimalist, yet are well-thought out to the last detail, made of high-quality materials and endowed with a discreet elegance.

Michael Anastassiades was born in 1967 on Cyprus where he was raised. He completed his studies in London where he studied Engineering at Imperial College from 1988 to 1991, and Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art. He worked as a counsellor for various companies before founding his own studio.

Anastassiades' works have been taken into the design collections of famous museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and in London the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Art Council, the MAK in Vienna and the FRAC Centre in Orléans/Val de Loire. Michael Anastassiades mostly created light fixtures and lighting objects. His IC Lights collection for Flos demonstrates how he puts elements from industrial design and sculpture into his designs.
