Louise Campbell

The designer was born in Copenhagen, the daughter of a Dane and an Englishwoman in 1970. Because of her intercultural background, Louise Campbell was raised in Denmark and in England and completed her studies in both countries. She graduated at the London College of Furniture in 1992 and continued her studies at the Design School in Denmark. After graduating, she opened her own design office in 1996. Her creative work focusses on furniture and light design. One of Louise Campbell motto's is: "Everything is possible as long as the contrary has not been demonstrated." This credo supports her experimental approach.

Louise Campbell's lights and furniture display a playful style. She favours an experimental approach to materials and manufacturing processes. Louise Campbell has internationally famous customers like Louis Poulsen, Zanotta, HAY, Royal Copenhagen and Muuto. In these collaborations, during the manufacturing process of a finished high-quality product, the creative challenge and the freedom of creation always have priority. For Louis Poulsen, the talented designer designed the LC Shutters and the Collage suspensions which both convince with original light shades. She created the fanciful The More the Merrier candle holder for the Scandinavian label Muuto.

Aside from her work as a designer, Louise Campbell has already been chairwoman of the committee (2008-2010) for design and craftsmanship of the Statens Kunstfond foundation and worked as a curator of exhibitions.
