Inma Bermúdez

Inma Bermúdez was born in 1977 in Murcia, Spain, and studied industrial design at the Escuela de Diseño Industrial of the Universidad Cardenal Herrera CEU in Valencia. She did a one-year internship at the University of applied Science and Arts in Pforzheim, Germany. She started her career in Germany and Sweden, first at the German Studios Idea, Busse Design and Prodesign.

In 2006, Bermúdez worked for the first time in collaboration with the furniture company Ikea and spent six months working in its design department in Älmhult. Afterwards, she was commissioned as a freelance designer with diverse product types for Ikea every year.

In 2007 Inma Bermúdez came back to Spain and founded the Studio Inma Bermúdez in Valencia. In 2009, Moritz Krefter became part of the studio. The studio's work mainly focussed on furniture, lighting and accessories for diverse companies worldwide. Since 2007, the industrial designer has been regularly working in the design department of the Spanish chinaware company Lladró where she already developed successful innovative and classical products. She designed the popular FollowMe rechargeable light that achieved cult status for the lighting label Marset in 2014. In addition to her activity as a designer, Inma Bermúdez also gives conferences and teaches at various Spanish design schools.

With her designs, Inma Bermúdez enlivens everyday objects with sophisticated details. She received distinctions such as the Red Dot Design Award, the Design Plus Award and the National Design Award Spain.
