GamFratesi

The Copenhagen-based design studio GamFratesi was founded by Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi in 2006. Stine Gam was born in Denmark in 1975 and graduated from the Architect School of Århus. During her studies she also attended the Universitá di Architettura in Ferrara, Italy, and the Cape Collage Cape Town in South of Africa. Enrico Fratesi was born in Italy in 1978 and graduated in architecture with a Master of industrial design. Gam and Fratesi made both first experiences in various architecture offices in Japan and Scandinavia, before opening their own design office.

Because of its intercultural background with various design approaches, GamFratesi uses the classical Danish furniture design craftsmanship tradition and the Italian intellectual conceptual approach. Its creative process is also characterized by a fusion of tradition and innovation, an experimental approach with material and technique is paired with traditional details. GamFratesi share their time between Italy and Denmark to find new inspiring design ideas.

GamFratesi's works are in-demand design pieces which were displayed in many exhibitions at the Triennale di Milano, in the Palazzo Litta in Milan, in the Trapholt art museum in Kolding, in the Danish embassy in Tokyo and in Shanghai. GamFratesi's designs have been awarded the iF Award for his Louis Poulsen Yuh in 2017, the Good Design Award (2012) for the Gubi Masculo chair and the German Design Award special 2016 for the Lightyears Volume light. The designer duo was elected "Best Designer 2019" by Elle Decoration China. For famous international brands, such as FontanaArte, GamFratesi designed the Chesire table and floor lamp with a well-balanced shape and the very aesthetic Beetle chair for the Scandinavian label Gubi.
