Franco Bettonica

Franco Bettonica

The Milanese architect was born in 1927 and already designed products when he was a student. A significant milestone of his career in the field of architecture and interior design was the Cini & Nils light company Franco Bettonica founded in 1969 together with Mario Melocchi. Bettonica was his creative director for many years. The two Italian's creative and innovative spirit is still visible in today's Cini & Nils products.

The popular Cuboluce table lamp was designed by the designers Melocchi and Bettonica. Cuboluce's foldable cube shape which has encountered a formidable success on the international market blurs the lines between lighting object and decorative object. Cuboluce is even exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Other lights by Franco Bettonica, like the Fari collection and the Light System ceiling lamp reflect Cini & Nils philosophy, which is the development of new functional and aesthetic lighting objects.

The designer died in 1999.
