Ferruccio Laviani

Ferruccio Laviani was born in Cremona, Italy, in 1960 and studied architecture at the Polytechnic School of Milan. He attended the classes of Achille Castiglioni, Marco Zanuso and Ettore Sottsass, and graduated in 1986. During his architecture studies, Laviani also started studying design at the famous "School of Design" of the Milan Polytechnic School, which he completed in 1984. During his studies, he worked at Michele De Lucchi's design studio in 1983 and became a partner in 1986.

In 1991, Ferruccio Laviani left this company and founded his own design studio in Milan. Since then, the ambitious Italian has been working in the fields of product design, interior design and as art director. He has worked as an art director for Kartell and for many other renowned brands like Flos, DePadova, Moroso, Foscarini and Emmemobili. For Kartell, he took charge of the fair booth's conception, which was the beginning of his success story with the design giant. Laviani also designed commercial spaces, light installations, offices and hotels for private clients or international brands, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Citroen, Moët Hennessy; Swarovski and Samsung.

Ferruccio Laviani has greatly influenced the famous design label Kartell's portfolio. He designed the Fly light in 2000 and many others, like Bourgie, Cindy, , Kabuki and the LED table lamp Battery (2015). For the Italian manufacturer Foscarini, he created the Orbital and Tuareg floor lamps.
