Enrico Franzolini

Enrico Franzolini, who was born in 1952 in Udine, Italia, finished his architecture studies at the Universities of Florence and Venice in 1979. Because of his passion for artistic work he was invited to contribute to diverse exhibitions in the field of decorative art at the 36th Biennale of Venice in 1972. Beside his artistic activity, Enrico Franzolini has dedicated himself to architecture and industrial design. He founded his own company in Udine in 1981. As an architect, Enrico Franzolini designed numerous prized objects, while as an industrial designer he already cooperated with renowned companies like Foscarini, Knoll International, Cappellini, Pallucco and Alias. He created the successful Jil chair series composed of upholstered, ergonomic chairs with an oak structure for the furniture manufacturer Pedrali. Enrico Franzolini designed the Big Bang collection made of overlaping acrylic glass plates for Foscarini.

He was awarded several prizes for his furniture designs. The Italian received the first prize of the competition Top Ten in 1991, while he earned an Honourable Mention at the important design competition Compasso d'Oro for the modern seat Asia in 1999. He won a Red Dot Design Award for his Lagoa chair in 2004.
