Doriana & Massimiliano Fuksas

The Studio Fuksas is led by the architects Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas and is an internationally successful architecture office with locations in Rome, Paris and Shenzhen.

Massimiliano Fuksas is of Lithuanian descent and was born in Rome in 1944. He graduated in architecture from the University Rome "La Sapienza" in 1969. Since the 1980s, he has been one of the most significant protagonists of the contemporary architectural world. Doriana Mandrelli Fuksas was also born in Rome where she graduated in 1979 in History of modern and contemporary architecture from the Univerity Rome "La Sapienza". Besides, she obtained a degree of architecture from the ESA - École Spéciale d'Architecture - in Paris.

In 1969, Massimiliano Fuksas opened his first own architecture office in Rome. At first, his activity was concentrated in Italy, yet after he opened a second office in Paris in the 1980s, his focus of activity shifted and his fame increased. Offices in Vienna (1995) and Frankfurt am Main (1997) followed. In 2008, he opened a further office in Shenzhen, China. Today the studio Fuksas, led by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, is an internationally operating architecture office that developed over 600 projects and was awarded numerous awards.

Various disciplinary focuses define the Studio Fuksas' profile: architecture, art, town planning, landscape planning and since 1997 also design, a department led by Doriana. Among the studio's last projects there are, for example, the new exhibition site Milano in Rho-Pero and the ZENITH music hall in Strasburg. The Studio Fuksas made design projects in the field of lighting design for the Italian light brand Slamp.

The studio Fuksas has completed works worldwide and dedicates himself to on-going research for an innovative implementation of the projects. Such aspects as sustainability and a human architecture are given a strict attention in the projects' planning and implementation.
