Arik Levy

Arik Levy, who today works in Paris, was born in 1963 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He has developed a multidisciplinary approach, because he dedicates himself to many artistic fields of activity. He is not only working as a furniture and lighting designer, but also as a stage designer, a photographer and a technician. However, it was especially his installations and his furniture that made him internationally famous.

At first, Arik Levy ran a graphic design office and a surf shop in Israel, until he emigrated to Europe in 1988, at the age of 27. He studied industrial design at the Art Center Europe in Switzerland and graduated in 1991. Winning a competition opened doors for him and he spend time in Japan, where he worked for Seiko Epson. At the same time Arik Levy was teaching at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris from 1992 and 1994. Together with the American Pippo Lionni, Arik Levy opened the LDesign design studio in Paris in 1997. The studio works in interior and packaging design, and also creates brand logos.

Arik Levy's works are now displayed in distinguished galleries and museums worldwide and have been awarded many design prizes. His most popular designs are the Wire table for Zanotta (2007), the Rock jewel series for Baccarat (2008) and the Hoop couch (2009). In the field of light design, he created the North, Fold, Rhythm and Wireflow collections for the Spanish label Vibia, and the Meteor Light for Serralunga. He has won numerous awards, such as the Red Dot Product Design Award (2016) in the category "design quality", the Design Plus Award (2015) for the Bowl collection for Inbani and the German Design Award (2016) for his Split Chair collection for Ton.
