Cini & Nils
Cuboluce Collection

Design by Franco Bettonica, Mario Melocchi

The Italian light manufacturer Cini & Nils internationally broke through with the Cuboluce table lamp in 1972. The Cuboluce was designed by Franco Bettonica and Mario Melocchi, and is still popular today.

Cuboluce revolutionized the table lamp illumination because its shines without using a switch. The dice-like light fixture is turned on and off, simply by opening and closing the lid, which spares us from searching the switch in the dark.

The light's name says it all. The cubic shape is clearly geometric and without frills. The light body is made of technopolymer and available in many colours to meet everybody's taste. The light source located inside the light fixture shines its light against the reflector's lid which projects an indirect, focussed light shine in the room. Cuboluce is suitable as a reading lamp and as an atmospherical light source in living rooms and bedrooms, and, because of its various colours and patterns, perfectly adapts to personal tastes.

Cuboluce Classic is equipped with a E14 lamp. The collection was complemented with the energy-efficient Cuboled table lamp equipped with built-in LEDs in 2013. Since 2018, there is also a rechargeable Cuboluce, Cuboluce Wireless LED which offers up to eight illumination hours without a cable.

The cult light fixture Cuboluce is exhibited in the "Study Collection" in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
