About the Collection Catellani & Smith Petits Bijoux
The LED pendant lamps Petits Bijoux by Catellani & Smith are modern chandeliers with a delicate, simple shape and precious character. The collection comprises a large version with ten rings and 56 diffusers, and a small version with seven rings and 28 diffusers.
The metal rings have different diameters and are suspended at different heights so that they form a sphere. Enzo Catellani drew inspiration from the concentric circles that appear on a water surface after a stone when a stone is thrown in. The plastic diffusers are attached with brass clamps and nestle against the metal rings. They are transparent and feature a conic surface structure that refracts the light and provides sparkling lighting effects. They are reminiscent of naturally grown crystals and accentuate the simple ring construction in an especially elegant manner. The rings are connected and suspended from the ceiling merely by thin, nearly invisible wires, so that they seem to float in the air.
The extraordinary combination of seemingly floating metal rings and almost organic, crystal-like diffusers turns Petits Bijoux into an eye-catcher with a precious and magical aura. Despite its size and complexity, the luminaires appear light as a feather and do not block the view of the rest of the room.
The natural brass surface of the rings lends each Petits Bijoux pendant lamp a unique and nearly antique charm. Because the brass is not treated, it may oxidize in the course of time and form a patina.
