Catellani & Smith
Macchina della Luce Collection

The LED lamps Macchina Della Luce by Catellani & Smith are lighting objects with preciously refined surfaces that provide an atmospheric indirect illumination. The design by Enzo Catellani is the result of a reflection on the colour of light, using metal leaf to create warm or cool lighting effects. The LED light sources are discreetly integrated and shine onto the reflector plates, which appear to be glowing by themselves.

The collection comprises pendant lamps with different numbers of metal plates of varying sizes. They are generally decorated with smooth metal leaf, some models also with fluttering foil that hangs loosely, moving and sparkling with every movement of the air. The plates are connected with each other and suspended from the ceiling with metal rods in nickel or brass. The ceiling canopy is nickel-plated.

The Macchina Della Luce lamps testify to meticulous handicraft combined with a pronounced sense for the interaction of light and precious surfaces, for clear shapes and grand emotions. Each luminaire is a unique piece with distinctive details. Their size and powerful effect turn them into impressive chandeliers, especially for rooms with high ceilings.

The rods have a length of 145 cm and can be shortened. They are also available with a length of 300 cm on request.
