About the Collection Catellani & Smith Ale
The LED lamps Ale by Catellani & Smith rely on bold colours and clear geometrical shapes. They were designed in 2022 by Enzo Catellani, and are reminiscent of the Memphis design of the 1980s, but also of Catellani's own early experiments with primary colours during the design of the PostKrisi lights.
The collection includes a table lamp, a small battery lamp, a wall lamp and a ceiling lamp. Each model has a somewhat different design, but uses the same basic shapes: cylindrical bases, V-shaped rods and most importantly a metal dome-shaped shade. A small fly in a contrasting colour is placed on the shade as a playful detail.
Shade, base, structure and fly are completely made of lacquered metal. While the black and the white versions only use a different colour for the fly, the two multicoloured versions use a different colour for each component.
