Bocci
28 Collection

Design by Omer Arbel

The lighting objects of the collection 28 by Bocci are the result of an innovative process that plays with the temperature and the direction of the air flow in a blown glass body. Each object is individually blown and manufactured by hand. Beside many suspensions and ceiling lamps, the collection by Omer Arbel also comprises table lamps and floor lamps as well as further model versions, available on request.

The diffusers are made of artfully blown glass. They are simple balls, but slightly deformed and feature an extraordinary inner life. Small hollow spaces are blown in the ball. The largest void space is made of opaline glass, establishing an interesting contrast to the mostly transparent glass of the diffuser. The two smaller hollow spaces interrupt the glass ball's smooth external side with unexpected details. Despite its very simple external silhouette, the design is fascinating, cheerful and asymmetrical. It is a play with contrasts that poetically emphasizes the glass and its colour.

Depending on the model, the diffusers are suspended on thin cables or straight metallic structures. The light fixtures with several light sources keep the design's organical character because the diffusers are arranged at different distances and in different positions around the metallic stems, are suspended at different heights or put together into a bouquet.

The collection comprises further versions enabling even more design liberties with varied character. On request, there are also other glass colours, suspension systems with flexible copper arms or with fancy wound cables. They make very individual lighting installations and individual objects with up to 61 light balls possible. Multiple suspensions with more than 9 balls cannot be adapted in height. When ordering, the shortest and the longest cable lengths must be mentioned, the other lengths will be determined by Bocci. Standard cable lengths are of maximum 3 m, special lengths are of up to 30 m possible for the most models. These models are especially suitable for public rooms, like hotel foyers and high-class retail shops, for stairwells and atriums. Bocci 28's effect is primarily decorative, its light is rather atmospherical and not meant as primary light source.

It is possible to choose between two lamp versions: the xenon lamps have the advantage of a very natural colour rendering, while the LED version has a low electrical consumption, a longer life-span and a low heat development.
