About the Collection Bocci 14
The lighting objects 14 by Bocci are put to the fore by a clear formal language and a pure glass beauty. 14 is a design icon in the Bocci portfolio: the first design by designer Omer Arbel and his team who created it in 2005 as a finished product and that played a significant role in the foundation of the Bocci company.
Today, the collection shines with a large array of versions. Next to the here offered suspensions, many special versions are possible. All light fixtures are available for xenon or LED lamps and, moreover, in three glass colours: amber, smokey grey and colourless grey.
The appeal of 14 lies in its imperfections. The glass diffuser is not perfectly round, not completely transparent and its light is more a shimmer than an illumination. It is obvious that the diffuser is composed of two halves. Both half balls of glass are cast by hand and feature individual, irregular edges that create an horizontal incision when the light fixture is finished. A cylindrical void inside the glass body connects both halves and contains the lamp, the light of which magically illuminates the thick glass. Thanks to the artisanal manufacturing, there are no air bubbles, inclusions and other irregularities, as well as a charming irregular surface.

The soft light emitted by the suspensions 14 serves above all to put its own beauty to the fore. It is not strong enough to illuminate a room or to brighten a table. It rather guides the eye to the delicate lighting objects that are displayed as an elegant accent or as an opulent sea of lights.
In respect of technique, it is possible to choose between two types of lamps. The LED version has the advantage of a very long life-span, a lower current consumption and a comparatively lower heat development. The xenon light source scores with a very natural colour rendering of Ra 100 and a somewhat brighter and warmer light.
To comply with the architectural factors and demanding light projects, 14 is on request also available with other ceiling roses, with special cable lengths and with up to 50 light balls.
The multiple suspensions with more than 9 balls have cables that are not adaptable in lengths by the user, but by Bocci. Only the lengths of the longest and shortest cable must be mentioned when ordering. Standard lengths reach from 30 cm to 3 m. Special lengths of 30 m are possible.
Because of the manufacturing by hand, the exact diameter of the glass ball can vary. Irregularities in the surface structure, inclusions and air bubbles are also part of the lights' artisanal character and are signs of quality. There are no two Bocci 14 that are the same, because each of them features individual details.
