The Orsa floor lamp by Artemide offers a direct, LED light and an elegant design, reduced to the essential. It was designed by Foster + Partners and relies on modern technique, a minimalist aesthetics and a convincing functionality.
Orsa has a slender metallic stem which seemingly extends the electrical cable. It widens downwards and forms a small, conical light head which contains a LED light source. A clear diffuser of methacrylate starts from this reflector, reproduces its classical shape, forming a large and flat diffuser, closed below by a mat white diffuser which also conceals the LEDs and prevents the light from glaring. The Orsa suspension's shape seems to be made of a single piece, while the various materials make construction and function obvious. Especially the transparent diffuser gives Orsa a feather-light charm and the discreet, elegant light fixture seems to float in the room.
Orsa 35 can be used singly, for example for illuminating a table, but also arranged in rows and clusters. The slender design with a high stem emphasizes the room height and is responsible for the light's delicate appearance.
