About the Collection Artemide Objective

The LED table lamp Objective was designed in 2013 by Jean Nouvel and awarded with the Design Plus Award and the iF Design Award in the following years. Conceived like a simple column composed of several elements, Objective has three light functions which are revealed at second glance.

The three segments composing the cylindrical body are reminiscent of camera lenses because of their different surface structures. The result is a charming object with technical character, setting a statement on sideboards and desks even when it is turned off.

A methacrylate diffuser which is seamlessly integrated in the column is the first light source spreading a diffuse illumination. Above it, there is a laterally folding out element offering downward, direct illumination, which is ideally suited as a reading light or for illuminating the desk's surface. The third light source is located in the upper segment which can be tilted to the side by 45 degrees. The light shines upwards and creates indirect illumination which is steerable by tilting.

Objective is made of black lacquered aluminium with partly smooth, partly grooved and partly screened surfaces. The methacrylate diffuser is prismatically structured inside and smooth outside. The upper and lower light sources are separately turned on and off, and dimmed via two switches on the light body. The reading lamp is activated by folding the reflector out.
