About the Collection Artemide Meteorite
The light fixtures Meteorite by Artemide appeal with glass diffusers featuring a surface reminiscent of moon craters and the meteorites. The collection by Pio and Tito Toso was awarded with the Red Dot Design Award in 2015 and comprises wall and ceiling lamps, suspensions and table lamps in a choice of sizes.
The diffuser made by hand consists of double walled glass. Special glass making techniques and grinding technique are applied to obtain a roughly round shape with an organical surface structure. The body is mostly satined, yet the clear glass shines through in many spots. All Meteorite lights are unique pieces with individual details, testifying of an handcrafted production. The surface structure is perceptible when the light is turned off, yet is emphasized through the soft, diffuse light and gains more complexity.
The glass diffuser is complemented by discreet light bodies and structures of synthetics and metal.
Because of its large array of versions, the Meteorite lights are suitable for diverse tasks: as a main light source on a room's ceiling, as a small lighting accent onto the wall or as a pleasant lighting object on the sideboard. The diverse sizes can be arranged into groups and harmonize with many furnishing styles, in private rooms and public spaces.
