Artemide
Ixa Collection

Design by Foster + Partners

The LED lights Ixa by Artemide use delicate rods and counterweights for a precisely balanced, reduced design that demonstrates great design expertise. The team at Foster + Partners was inspired by the kinetic sculptures of the American artist Alexander Calder. The collection includes table lamps, floor lamps and wall lamps.

The base, the slim structure and the round lamp head are made of aluminium and steel, the diffuser is made of technopolymer. Depending on the model, the structure consists of a single element and only swivels sideways, or of two elements connected by joints and balanced with counterweights so that they can also be tilted. The lamp head is magnetically attached to the structure and can be moved to different positions to direct the light with precision.

With a warm white colour temperature and very good colour rendering, the Ixa LED luminaires emit a clear, bright light that displays colour nuances and textures naturally. It can be used as a working light at the desk or as a reading light next to the bed, fits in study rooms as well as in cozy living rooms. The elegant, minimalist design cuts a good figure anywhere and is fascinating even when the light is off.

The playful, seemingly weightless design invites to be touched and interacted with. Operation of the lamps is intuitive: a push button dimmer directly on the lamp head switches and dims the light, and both structure and lamp head can be repositioned in just a few simple steps, adapting lighting effect and shape of the lamp to suit individual ideas. The Ixa lamps provide comfortable reading light, set accents and stage bookshelves, provide bright work light and indirect, soft background lighting.
