The light fixtures Cosmic Leaf and Cosmic Angel by Artemide were designed by Ross Lovegrove in 2009, and display their typical, modern, organical style. The collection includes a suspension, a ceiling lamp and a floor lamp.
The common distinctive feature in the light series is the shade's special shape, similar to a sheet of paper blown by the wind. The ceiling lamp and the suspension have a horizontal shade floating in the air and suspended lighting units below. The floor lamp has a vertical shade on a base containing the lamp.
The light shines from below against the shade. The latter is made of thermoplastic synthetics and features a soft, organical, faceted structure. This extraordinary surface diffracts and reflects the light and shimmers. Because the light sources are invisibly integrated in the light fixtures, the shades seem to shine by themselves and are reminiscent of futuristic objects in the outer space.
