The Castore lights, designed by Huub Ubbens and Michele de Lucchi, were awarded numerous design prizes for their elegant design suitable for versatile use. The collection was awarded the Design Plus Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the Compasso d'Oro in 2004. The collection includes a floor lamp, suspensions and table lamps with diffusers of diverse sizes.
The spherical diffuser turning into a translucent, synthetic stem by a fluid transition is Castore's distinctive feature. Because the stem is made of a translucent material, the transition between light and dark is smooth and gradual. The light fixture comes entirely in white and seems to be single-pieced, minimalist and modern, yet also emotional and organic. The suspension has the appearance of a charming drop suspended from the ceiling on a white ceiling rose. The floor and table lamps combine the diffuser with a light stem of thermoplastic resin and a round base of zamak.
