About the Collection Artemide Ameluna
To create the extraordinary suspensions Ameluna, two giants of design have come together: Artemide and Mercedes-Benz. Both companies share a philosophy that puts the human being at the centre of their work, aiming to improve its quality of life. The Ameluna LED lights masterfully demonstrate the know-how, the attention to detail and the strong aesthetic sense that characterize both Artemide and Mercedes-Benz. The collection comprises two models: the standard Ameluna LED pendant light and Ameluna RGB with additional coloured light.
The melodious name "Ameluna" is a portmanteau: "A" is for Artemide, "Me" for Mercedes-Benz and "Luna" means the moon. Just like the moon, Ameluna's acrylic shade seems to glow by itself, but actually receives its light from the discreetly integrated LED ring and, if necessary, from the RGB spot light.
What-is-more, the shade produces a magical effect. It has a circular shape, yet the dome features an off-centered bulge and appears nearly biomorph, dynamic and futurist. The shade is held by three thin wires and seems to freely float in the room. 288 LEDs, arranged alongside the shade's circular rim, serve as a light source. Beside the indirect lighting that they guide in the shade, they also shine downwards and spread direct illumination, for example toward seating corners or conference tables.
The Ameluna lights were awarded the Red Dot Design Award "Best of the Best" in 2017.
