Product details

The suspension Tolomeo Sospensione Decentrata by Artemide gives an impression of lightness. The two long and slender adjustable arms of the floor lamp are made of polished aluminium. This luminaire offers great possibilities of flexibility and mobility on account of the system of spring balancing using joints and fixations made of polished aluminium as well as cables on guiding wheels. The spring system was first used in the nineteen-thirtees for the famous "Anglepoise" lamp with the aim to achieve more mobility. This outstanding luminaire is suitable for illuminating tables or desks in particular when the electrical connection at the ceiling is not located directly above the surface to light. There are four different versions of adjustable shades. The small mate anodized aluminium shade spends a direct light. It is possible to obtain a downwards directed light with the aid of a tiny ring from stainless steel (steel ring) combined with a reflector lamp. Furthermore the conical shades made of two different materials are also available . Depending on the material you choose they are available in two or three sizes ( diameter of 24 cm , this only for parchment, 32 cm or 36 cm in both materials). The first version of the shade is from slightly shiny light grey silk satin and looks nearly white as soon as Tolomeo Sospensione Decentrata is on, whereas the shade from stabilized parchment paper in natural colour gives off an extremely warm and pleasant light. This version of the celebrated design classic spends an optimal direct and partly scattered on tables and counters. The Tolomeo was first presented to the public in 1987 on occasion of the famous light fair "Euroluce" in Italy and received an instant success. This success was confirmed again in 1989, when the two designers were awarded the Compasso d'Oro. To this day this lamp is a best-seller that is continuously developed and is available in a growing number of versions.
