MSRP = Manufacturers suggested retail priceKartell, the renowned Milanese manufacturer of design furniture and home accessories is one of the leading companies in this sector. It partly owes its success to the internationally famous designers it works with. Among them are big names like, Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Marcel Wanders, Michele de Lucchi, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka or Mario Bellini. The manufacturer and designers join forces to study the technical feasibility of the designers' sketches to produce objects that reflect the spirit of the times and are made of the utmost innovative materials. Today Kartell can proudly look back on 61 years of history. It was founded in1949 by the chemist Giulio Castelli who was trained by Julio Natta, a Nobel prize laureate. From early on, Kartell focused on objects made of synthetic materials, first for the automotive industry and later for household-appliances, laboratories and lighting fixtures. In the 1960s Kartell enhanced its image by applying all the available synthetic materials to redefined forms and function for household products. This new orientation brought Kartell international recognition, as well as numerous prizes. In 1972, the Museum of Modern Art New York invited Kartell to participate in an exhibition dedicated to Italian design for the home. Many of the objects designed for the exhibition are now permanently exhibited in the MoMA. Kartell has experienced ongoing success. Today Kartell can boast of many prizes, and among them no less than nine coveted Compassi d' Oro. Those interested in Kartell's history and design objects have the possibility to visit the Kartell Museum in Noviglio, Italy since 1999 . There, they will find more than 1000 objects exhibited on three levels.
