Foscarini Wagashi Piccola
Design: Luca Nichetto and Massimo Gardone
Description: The particularity and originality of the shape chosen for the small wall or ceiling lamp Wagashi Piccola by Foscarini is masterfully dressed, resulting in a wall and ceiling lamp that is perfect for characterising and furnishing surfaces and able to offer outstanding lighting performance. Poetry and practicality, concepts that are seemingly distant, combine in Wagashi, a large wall and ceiling light that represents the osmosis between different sensibilities and skills in different fields. Together with the interaction of eclectic synergies that have combined photographic design with lighting, there is a wide range of research in this project: in materials, in the selection of printing techniques and image transfer onto the chosen fabric and in the choice of the most suitable colours. Wagashi is the perfect décor element. It has a strong presence that is full of personality, but is at the same time ethereal and elegant. The lamp was named after the artistically prepared cakes of antique Japanese tradition that exist in endless versions, inspired by the seasons´ alternating. Wagashi has a metallic structure covered in fabric printed using a sublimation process. It illuminates completely and guarantees uniform, optimal lighting. The fire-proof fabric can be delivered in white, black, orange and yellow. The colours, partly gently, partly strong, join a game of nuances. Strokes of the brush and contrasts on the neutral fabric emphasize the beautiful, plain forms. The lamp is also available in two larger versions.
